*Snicker*

I’m introducing my wife to Babylon 5 at the moment and we we’re a few episodes in when she turns to me and says; “I like that guy, he’s funny!” (referring to Londo).

I nodded, then turned to face Life’s Camera as an evil grin split my features. “JMS, you devil,” I thought.

Happy New Year, Folks!

cokercoop:

We’re getting 2015 started with a bang, Shof and I were featured on Comic Book Resources Robot 6! Check it out.

2015’s going to be a big year for us, beginning with a series of webcomics that take place in the Outcasts of Jupiter-verse. We’re going to be publishing these on Tapastic in February, keep a weather eye open for updates.

Toys for Grown Ups are the Best

Last week, Shof sent me a package with samples of some of the Kickstarter rewards that backers of the Outcasts of Jupiter comic we created would be getting early next year, and I’ve been playing with them since.

When we launched the Kickstarter campaign, we asked for $9,500, and ended up getting just over $14,100 from nearly 500 incredibly generous backers.

As soon as the extra money started rolling in, we got super excited, not because it meant more money for us, but because it meant we could put more into making sure the stuff we created for the Kickstarter was top notch. Many months later were starting to get samples, and oh boy, was it worth it. It feels great knowing we made the best comic we could inside and out, and that we’ve got the best posters, the best postcards, the best figures.

Our goal with Outcasts has been to introduce people to an interesting universe they can learn to love, and one that’ll love them back. If this was going to be our one shot, we wanted to make the most of it. I can’t wait till backers get their hands on this stuff.

Okay, FOX, I Guess I'll Watch More Gotham

Without really knowing how or why, I find that I’m really looking forward to the next episode of Gotham. The show’s got a weird indefinable charm. Maybe 10 years from now looking back at these early episodes will be like reminiscing about the awfulness of TNG season 1.

I still love TNG season 1.

The Coker CoOp is now Live

After a year away from the blog, I finally have something worthwhile to share!

Shof, Funlola and I have started a little operation of sorts, called Coker CoOp. I hesitate to use the word "company" right now, at the moment it's basically a place where we can focus our collaborative efforts, talk about our process and let folks know what we're working on. Stuff like comics, videogames, statues, jewelry etc based on the ideas that we've come up (including stuff from the Jonahverse) with will go up there.

Some of the stuff will be free, and some of it for sale eventually. It's the biggest and most ambitious thing we've worked on yet, and it's still in its infancy, but we've got grand plans and we sure hope you'll come along for the ride :)

Time to do some world-building

A couple of months ago Shof put up a blog post with a sample of some concept art he'd created for a TV show called Ekologue that we pitched to an African TV network. We worked on a show bible, and had been discussing ideas for the first season. For a while it looked like things might take off, but in the end the project never really got off the ground (there's still some hope though).

Lately I've been thinking I might go back and expand the bible, maybe flesh out the first season's story arc a little more and flesh out the characters. If the show never gets backing for traditional TV, who knows, perhaps we could look at broadcasting on the 'Net? I've been thinking about drawing from videogames for inspiration, things like Minecraft, Dishonored and a few others.

Should be a fun time, if you'd like to see more of Ekologue, I recommend having a gander at Shof's blog post.
